VISION
The Space Portal & ACES will advance development of the low Earth orbit environment for all users (scientific, technological, and commercial), in order to more efficiently advance scientific knowledge, technological capability, and commerce on Earth as a gateway to 21st Century exploration and development of space.
MEETING A NATIONAL CHALLENGE
The purpose of the Space Portal & ACES is to engage a new business model for achieving research and development (R & D) in low-earth orbit consistent with the present and future goals of the U.S. Space Program. Our objective is to create an Alliance that will aggressively pursue science, technology and commercial development programs with clearly defined roles for government, industry, and academic partners. The ultimate success of our Alliance will depend equally on the efficient operation of existing and emerging space, transportation, ground assets (laboratories, launch & retrieval vehicles, spacecraft and space station among others), and on the optimal utilization of those assets by the R & D, business, and private investment communities. Access to space must involve capital and related financial resources of a magnitude similar to other business enterprises with comparable risks and rewards. Rapid turnaround and a friendly "front-door" for the customers will enable revolutionary commercial utilization of low earth orbit and near space.
The Space Portal & ACES seeks to serve as the "Friendly Front Door" between users, operators, and space access providers maximizing the range of productive uses, as well as minimizes the cost and schedule associated with conducting user operations in low-Earth orbit.
